The Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding was established in the year 1988. Dr. A. P. Kulkarni, Associate Professor and I/C- Professor of AGB, led the department with one supporting staff till 2008. The Department has undergone significant changes during the past more than 3 decades. Presently, the department is functioning with two Associate Professors in the Faculty Building A block of the Institute. The department is handling Central Biostatistics and Computer Laboratory, and Internet Facility for the staff and students of the Institute. The Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding is actively involved in undergraduate teaching, and postgraduate teaching and research. The department is offering various types of training to the farmers and officers.
